Anyone wanna BrU?

For the most part, my blog has centered around copywriting, which has undersold my passion for invention & enterprise. One of the main reasons for this is because I still keep a quasi-paranoid wrap on my current projects. Ideally I’d be showing you ides that are about to hit store shelves, but I guess that’s something to stay tuned to see.

One thing I have no problem sharing is business ideas. Maybe it’s because I sell myself shorter than my own ideas, but I don’t see myself as a local restaurant/business owner. That said, anyone is welcome to take the following idea and make it your own… please.

TODAY’S IDEA:

BrU is:

  1. A bar.
  2. An ingredient shop for DIY beer & wine makers.
  3. A local community and in-house brewery for beer & wine makers to come together, make their concoctions, and share them with others.

How BrU would work:

For a reasonable membership fee, customers will be given their own, “Brew Locker” – much like a humidor at a cigar club – where they can purchase ingredients and make their own batch of beer.

During opening hours, members can access their beer for free, or purchase a different beer at the bar.

Members also have the option of putting their beer up for sale at the bar for customers. Every sale earns them 50% of the purchase. This experience ensures a select stock of community-made beer, as well as a potential profit to members.

Bru Community Activites:

  • Bi-monthly Pub Club Meetings
  • Trade brews and tips
  • Meet fellow members
  • Showcase your handiwork

So what do you guys think? Could you see a BrU near U? Personally, I’d love to have a place like this around, and I think it would be a great place to build a local community. Share your opinions and ideas.

Some Tech that Wasn’t at CES (but I wish it was!)

I have a tablet. It’s called my iPhone. I have something a lot like the Nexus One, and it too is called an iPhone.

I also have a netbook, but mine has a disc drive in it. It’s called a laptop, and if you actually look at a keyboard for your iPhone as a solid investment, give all your money to a local charity and live a life of poverty for a while to gain some perspective – you have clearly lost touch with reality:

This is what an asshole buys.

This year’s CES had some pretty interesting stuff, but the vast majority was spent following niche trends that people, as far as I’m concerned, only think they want.

Of course, I could be the next “iSlate” fanboy, and perhaps I expect too much, but the year IS 2010 now, and at a tech Mecca like CES I would hope for something more than last years capabilities made smaller. Where are the ideas that scare us? The ideas that make us rethink the everyday?

Sixth Sense (as seen below) is a potential technology that doesn’t just fill a void, but creates a paradigm. Mobile technology has been moving us closer and closer back to the human interaction we’ve been built for, and yet most of us are still stuck in “screen mode.” Hopefully we can see this come into fruition over 2010. After all, there’s a lot more to see when we look up.

Just for giggles, here is a non-related idea that we can hopefully see in future auto shows, although I would hate to “rip” my BMW.

How to Make Your Life a Living Sitcom

Last year I had an idea for an iPhone app:

Thanks to the savvy folks at Propaganda 3, it lives, and it’s free. In case you ever wanted to piss off a spouse, coworker or teacher, or like me, you pine for the days of crappy early-90′s sitcoms, Pocket Sitcom is the app for you.

I love to read the reviews and hear how people have been using it. You can download it on the iTunes store or find out more about it here.

Telebration: Let’s Make it Happen, People

The following idea should exist, which is why I’m entering it in the BIG Idea Group’s Microbusiness Hunt.

Since I don’t exactly have web design in my skillset, I’m happy to speak with anyone who wants to contribute to making Telebration a real thing.

The Read & Sip “Devil Mug”

ReadAndSip_joncorral

Read... sip... Read & Sip. It doesn't make much more sense, does it?

Seriously, someone make this.

Just remember to give me credit. Oh yeah… and royalties.
